Decision time near to drain China’s quake-formed lake as water rises

  • The plan to drain Tangjiashan “quake lake” is due to be implemented by Thursday or thereafter.
  • The trapped water volume has risen to 211.6 million cubic meters as of 2 p.m. Wednesday.
  • The timing of actually draining the lake will be decided by water inflows from its upper reaches. Read more

Donation call for tents

Due to the urgent need for tents in the quake-hit area in Sichuan, a group of Chinese volunteers in USA purchased 25 big 30′ (9 m) Emergency Disaster Relief tents out of their own pockets ($20,000), and shipped the tents to the Sichuan last weekend.  Now they are accepting donations:
